Modern Machine Shop/Production Machining wrote in a 2012 article:

“Today more than ever, it is crucial that North American manufacturers constantly improve on their technology and processes. Multitasking machine tools are becoming more widely used to help manufacturers compete globally.”

We purchased our first multitasking 6 axis turning center in 2004. We’ve since added a 3 axis and an 8 axis turning center to our equipment list. In most cases these centers allow a completed component to be run in a single setup saving time and costs.

Machine programs are written offline using Mastercam X7 Mill-Turn with SolidWorks and are wirelessly networked to each machine using CADCAM Integration’s SuiteFactory. This combination of software investments allow us to plan, organize and manage our shop floor effectively. We consider one of the best features of SuiteFactory is its ability to send and receive a part program from any machine without having to run back and forth to the program station. Any part program sent back is revision controlled and not overwritten.
